We are getting close to stock split of NVIDIA

We are getting close to stock split of NVIDIA

Technological company shocked it's shareholders with the news that they will do 4-for-1 stock split. The expected date for it to happen is on 20.7.2021. [1] ProfitLevel explains in this analysis what it means and what are the expectations for stocks of Nvidia. [2]

Since the announcment of stock split, the price jumped for 30%. In the end of May the value was 637 USD, and today it is skyhigh 808,45 USD. With that, also the target prices went higher. [3]BMO Capital Markets for example, set the target price to 1000 USD. BofA Securities and Raymond James thinks, that the price will reach 900 USD. [4]Among other things, good financial reports for first quarter had impact on this growth. [5][6]

What does it mean »4 for 1 stock split«?

When a company decides fort his move, it means that the value or price divides by 4, and because of that, the number of shares on the market multiplies by 4. If we take for example todays price of a stock and we say that the stock split is happening today, then somebody who owns 1 stock at 808 USD price, would own from tomorrow on 4 stocks at 202 USD. So, investors doesn't lose anything.

As for tthe future of the company, it looks promising and profitable, at least on opinion of analyst in BofA Securities, Vivek Arya. He is predicting, that even though gaming sector (graphics cards) of the company is most profitable, by the year of 2025 data center sector will be the most profitable. He even says, that every year it will bring them 30 billion dollars in revenue. [9][10][11]
